An Outline of the Square Meaters Regulations

Females
There are two classes of Females, Class A & Class B. Females can be registered in either class depending on their measurement at 12 months of age.

Class 'A' is deemed to be pure bred and must measure between 100cm and 110cm at the top of the shoulder, at 12 months of age.

Class 'B' females are anything over 110cm or less than 100cm at 12 months of age.

While there is no regulation that prevents females of less than 100cm being registered, it is in no-ones interest to allow small animals to remain in the genetic base.

Bulls
Bulls can only be fully registered if they are Class 'A' which is between 103cm and 113cm a the the top of the shoulder , at 12 months of age.

Bulls whose height is outside those measurements cannot be registered, but have be portrayed as 'Commercial Square Meaters'.

For full registration the bull must also have a negative Mannosidosis Test carried out by registered veterinarian, the veterinarian must be able to identify the bulls tattoo.

For both males and females, interim registration must be completed within 3 months of birth, measurement and classification is done at 12 months of age and must be witness.

All Square Meaters Cattle of either sex or classification must be clean polled and of uniform colour.
Colours can range from silver to silver/grey, grey and dark grey.

Irrespective of size or breeding cattle should only be registered if they are 'Square Meaters Type' of animals. (For more explanation of this statement ask a Square Meaters breeder and look at some cattle).

For Show Purposes Only
Only Class 'A' animals may be exhibited as Square Meaters at Agricultural Shows. A further restriction is placed on the height for Bulls must be no more than 120cm at 18 months of age, or 115cm for females.

Buying or Selling
No animal maybe bought or sold as a Square Meaters unless it is registered with the Association.

The purchaser of a register animal must be a member of the Association for the registration to be transferred into their name.

The seller must provide the original Registration Certificate endorsed to whom the transfer is being made. By tradition the seller usually pays the Transfer Fee unless other arrangements have been made with the buyer.

Irrespective of who is paying for the transfer, the new Registration Certificate will not be issued without the transfer fee being paid.

The buyer is responsible for the animal being bought being the same animal that is on the Registration Certificate (ie. Tattoo).
